So It Begins…Ethical Swimsuit Season

So friends, the beach is totally on my mind because I’ll be going on vacation pretty soon 😀 and with Spring break around the corner for schools marking the beginning of swimsuit season I think this is a great time to take a look at some ethical swimwear. I’m actually really overwhelmed by the amount of really good, fashion forward ethical swimwear this season so let’s get started!

Vitamin A and Vitamin A Silver

first row (l-r): eco nomad; onyx hollywood; sassy / second row (l-r): rainbow room; envy; garden party

Vitamin A and Vitamin A Silver is born and bred out of sunny California and made with Repreve-a fabric made of recycled material and because of their huge success they’ve expanded their line to include a more budget friendly line (Vitamin A Silver).

I would say this is definitely a sexy youthful line with a lot of color and pattern that is really appealing to me. Above is a mix of both Vitamin A and Vitamin A Silver all available at Instyleswimwear.com; prices range from $117-$69 for a complete suit. There is a great selection so I totally recommend you check it out.

Eco Swim

l-r: eco babe top & eco covers shorts; ecobikini & skirted bottom; eco sport & hipster bottom

Eco Swim is made of recycled nylon and other sustainable fabrics. They also go the extra mile by aiding in beach and waterway clean ups, removing trash from our oceans.

Eco Swim’s cuts are a bit traditional, even modest at times but I think they can still really be modern. I personally like a boy short or skirted bottom opposed to the brief and I love that they cater to that style. The above are all available at Everything But Water; the pieces range from $58-$64 so a complete bikini is about $120.

Emobi

l-r: bandeau one piece; halter top w/ reg. bottom; frill one piece; frill bikini set

Emobi is an Australian based swimwear designer. You saw a couple of their swimsuits in last years ethical swimwear roundup. I really like the flirty prints in Emobi. Emobi uses sustainable fabrics as well as water based dyes.

All the Emobi suits are available in their shop HERE. I think something is really youthful and hip about the prints and cuts in this line. Complete suits range from $115-$160.

Bantu

l-r: bandeau bikini; halter one piece; bikini

Bantu’s line really screams “I’M AT THE BEACH!” to me. Bantu’s intention is to highlight the rich beach life in Africa while creating more opportunities for its people. Bantu is 100% made in Africa (Ethiopia and Cameroon), they believe that by sourcing everything from fabric prints to labor they are creating a sustainable living situation in much needed places.

These suits are available at YOOX complete suits are $69-$138.

If you read last year’s post you can see how many more options there are this year! Which really warms my heart because it means people are interested in being more conscious consumers. Hopefully that is a trend that sticks around and grows.

So friends, are you already thinking of the beach?
