What I Wore-Going Gatsby

The charm of New York NEVER ends I tell you! The 6th bi-annual Jazz Age Lawn Party was held a few weeks ago on Governors Island and I was happy to attend with some lovely peeps.

When I think of the 20’s I think of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The description of  the elite life in Long Island with dreamy white lace dresses á la Mia Farrow in the film version with Robert Redford (hubba hubba).

I really wanted to buy something that would fit my vision of the 20’s, but alas no time for a thorough search so I wore what I thought best expressed this aesthetic from my closet. Work with what ya got!

Here are some pics from my visually entertaining and super fun time at Governors Island.

Can you see who I’m taking a picture of below?!

😀 Bill Cunningham. He was soooo focused and aware, like a man on the hunt. It was pretty great to see him up close and personal in his element doing what he loves, you can see my post on watching the film on Cunningham here.

Friends, the summer is dwindling dwindling away! And I thought it really  necessary to share one of the more unique summer events before the warm weather has completely left us.

Also! Yes, my blog is looking a little different. I think I’ve played with a total of 8 themes SO FAR! I’m of the mind of trying on a whole bunch and being very picky. So the next time you visit it MAY look completely different, but I assure you these experiments won’t last…just some growing pains.

Hope you all had a GREAT start to the week!

You look adorable! How I envy you hat wearing ladies, lol. My hair is too thick to fit in most hats :-(.

This looks like such a fun and lovely event, and Bill Cuningham? I DIE!

It’s great how you chose something modern that still fit the aesthethics of the 20s. A lovely dress!

Bill Cunningham is probably one of my favorite fashion world people.

That’s such a cute idea for the Gatsby party! I love Governor’s Island and I’m glad it’s now open to the public.
