Hi Friends! I have exciting news! Next week I’ll be participating again in the Goodwill NY/NJ Suits You Fashion Show, done in conjunction with the New York City’s Mayor’s Office for Disability.
Out of all the events and parties and fashion shows I’ve been lucky to attend because of writing Made-To-Travel, I have to say participating in the Goodwill Suits You Fashion Show is by far my favorite memory (See my experience HERE).

The models in the fashion show are all people living with disabilities and to celebrate Disability Mentoring Day Goodwill NY/NJ are having them strut their stuff in a fashion show that celebrates the power of work.
I’m styling three people with disabilities: Nneka, Mi-Wa, and Derrick. They all have different needs, but my job in styling them is to find an outfit that suits the work environment they want to be in. Here’s a little video with Nneka a young deaf girl, who is so so so sweet, just graduated from college and is entering the workforce.
Here is the tentative schedule:
- 5:30-6:30 – cocktail reception
- 6:30-7:30 – Fashion show
- 7:30-9:00 – Sneak-peak Fall shopping (store closed for guests only) HAAAAAAAYYYYY! :P.
You are awesome! I’m pretty sure I remember that post some time ago. I won’t be able to make it since it’s on a Tuesday, but I would like to get together soon! Also, how great is it that the guitarist from Hall & Oates tagged us on Instagram? I was like, whaaaaaa?

I KNOW!!! I was like omg that is the sweetest thing that has ever happened to me after a concert! Yes we totes need to get together soon…Also b/c it’s on a Tuesday is a terrible excuse? What are you 80?! It ends at 9?
Ha! Nooooo, I actually work from home on Tuesdays now and so my home hours overlap with the event. 😉

Ahhhh, that’s awesome! That video is so great. I love how sassy and enthusiastic Nneka was about the jacket you found for her! You clearly hit the nail on the head with that pick.
It is so cool that you get to be a part of this event!
