Fewer things make me happier than an empty beach with calm cool waters. Last week I had the pleasure of going to St. Martin/St. Maarten, the lovely half Dutch half French island in the Caribbean.
If you want a super easy sweet vacation let me tell you St. Martin is a great choice. We stayed on the French side which after visiting the Dutch side I think it’s my preference. Our little hotel on Orient Bay was very sweet mixed in with normal houses and locals. And the locals know how to live! Everything closes shop at 4pm so they can catch the sunset and if they’re open later you can bet they enjoy a 3 hour siesta from 12-3pm…plan accordingly!
These pictures were taken on Pinel Island, a short ferry ride or kayak away thru the Cul de Sac by Orient Bay. While the beach at Orient Bay is a beauty, Pinel is a gem. It felt like such an escape, quiet and calm…if you find yourself in St. Martin I highly recommend you give Pinel a visit.
