What I Wore-Who Knew!?

Friends, have you ever saw a trend that you thought, “oh! that looks amazing but I could never wear that”? Well, I have! And I have pretty recently.

I clearly recall reading the Fall 2011 trend report titled “Your Coat Will Skim the Ground” in New York Magazine and sighed. I love how dramatic the look is but I thought I would never like a long coat on a 5 foot me.

Well, well, well! Who knew this 5 foot girl would fall in LOVE a extra long coat?!?!

(hat-thrifted; skirt-thrifted via goodwill; boots-urban outfitters; coat-h&m)

I completely thought a long coat would engulf me but I actually really really love the way it looks and it is a completely different kind of coat for me, so YAY for something new.

I usually wear a knee skimming length or higher and never thought I could wear a coat with a longer length because I’m so petite. Silly, silly me!

When I wear it I completely feel like a secret agent/Audrey Hepburn.

So friends, that teaches me! How about you? Have you ever fallen in love with something you never thought would work on you?

I’ve been loving the long coat trend and wear it daily. I’m only 5’6″, so sometimes the proportions look off on me, but still, whatevs, I say wear it unabashedly! The long trenches are fabulous!

Long coats are very elegant and that one looks beautiful on you. I find that often if I try something on that I don’t think will look good it goes and surprises me and looks good. I think it’s always good to try new things.

The other day I saw a man wearing a super-long rain coat, almost a duster. It went to his ankles and it looked amazing. He’s probably had it for years because it’s hard to find things like that now, but I remember thinking that I wanted one.

Hi beautiful! That coat looks fantastic on you! The slim cut makes it work on your itty bitty frame. I’m sorry I’ve been such a bad blogger friend lately. Stupid real life getting in the way again. Love you!

That coat looks amazing on you. I found a coat this weekend, same length, at a thrift store that I am planning on wearing in NY later this month. I love it it’s long, black and fitted. The cut is divine. Can’t wait to wear it. I love when a piece of clothing can help you feel even more confident/powerful.

Oh, great coat! It is a bit secret-agent-y, but the very elegant 40s secret agent-y. ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ll have to look it up in H&M! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve never thought about this question, I guess I never consciously dismiss a fashion idea fearing it wouldn’t suit me… I rather make aesthetic decisions, and I think long coats look amazing! So if I found one for a nice price, I’d totally get one for myself too. ๐Ÿ™‚

WOW! How did I miss this? you look amazing in that coat! I have an affinity for coats, and jackets in longer styles during this season, there’s a certain elegance that comes with it. The second and third style above are my favourites as well. -xo
